The lesson sees students first explore the origins of Christianity and how Rome eventually brought the religion to the mainstream, then they will study the tree of denominations before getting stuck into group tasks which actively show how groups can split off from each other due to having different interpretations of scripture and the influence of leaders. They will then complete reflection tasks before a writing task summarising what they have learned as the plenary. Students will explore the concept of social justice, its link to human rights and why it’s needed, before examining recent campaigns and the progress being made by the social justice movement.
